Queensland Windows manufactures custom-made traditional solid joinery of the highest quality using skilled tradespeople. We have expertise in consultations, design and estimations suitable for the smallest renovation to the largest commercial application.

Queensland Windows' craftspeople specialise in doors and windows including solid frames and also manufacture a variety of products to suit either standard or architectural requirements.

Joinery selections are crafted from your choice of the finest kiln-dried timber species.

Timber Species

All timber species are selected in accordance with Australian Standard AS1720-1990 Timber Structures Code. Species in external applications are selected on the basis of durability ratings (with Class 1 being the highest) and hazard levels.

A selection of species are listed below

Rosewood - Class 1.
Kwila - Class 2.
Red Cedar - Class 2.
Silky Oak - Class 3.
Tasmanian Oak - Class 4.
Hoop Pine - Class 4.

Queensland Windows solid joinery has a traditional wedged mortise and tennon joint, which is a tried and proven method over decades withstanding the test of time. Timber wedging of joints means the strength of the product is not reliant on glue alone.

By selecting 50mm rough sawn timber, this ensures we can dress and straighten this natural product to an exact size required for our 35mm thick, or the stronger 40mm thick joinery range.

Craftspeople in our fully equipped workshop grind profile cutters to produce many types of mouldings. If we do not have a profile to meet your requirements we can produce one.

Queensland Windows uses profile beading to match the reverse side of the window or door when installing glass to alleviate the ongoing problems associated with face putty.

Glass

To add that touch of class to your investment you need to consider the type of glass you wish to use. For example; safety-glass, plain, traditional, obscure, sound reduction, heat control or leadlite, to name just a few.
